Owl Nest Boxes
Only two owl species in Missouri are true cavity nesters and both of them have been known to use manmade nesting structures. The diminutive Eastern Screech Owl nests in mixed woodlands throughout Missouri and is our most "urban" owl. While the Barred Owl is commonly found along "wet" areas. As a rule with most nesting structures, it is a good to place the house as high as you safely can. They should also be cleaned out at the end of the nesting season and it is highly likely a bird may use it as a daytime roosting area during the colder months.
